Getting Started Guide

Set up your ModelBoard account, choose the right account type, and complete a practical first-day checklist to get ready for collaborations.

What you will accomplish

Create a usable ModelBoard account in under a day: confirm your details, choose the right account type, complete basic profile and compliance steps, and take your first action toward collaborations.

Prerequisites

  • Access to the email inbox you used to sign up

  • Basic profile details (name, location, short bio, links)

  • Optional: compliance and verification documents (ID, business registration, studio or agency documents)

Choose the right account type

Pick the account type that matches how you work on ModelBoard. You can collaborate across account types, but starting with the right one keeps your dashboard and compliance steps aligned with your role.

  • Individual creators, models, and talent

  • Focus on building an industry facing verified profile and portfolio

  • Connect with other creators for collaborations

  • Achieve regulatory compliance for collaborations before uploading to creator platforms

  • Receive casting proposals from Studios and access production details

  • Browse Businesses and freelancers for services and products

  • Customize a Link-in-Bio Public Profile and get listed on our Model Discovery tool available to the general public

Core onboarding flow

Follow these steps right after signup to get your account ready for use. Your dashboard layout may vary slightly by account type, but the sequence is the same.

Confirm your email

Activate your account so you can access the dashboard without interruptions.

What to do

  • Open the inbox for the email address you used to sign up

  • Look for a confirmation or verification email from ModelBoard

  • Click the verification link in the email

  • Sign in again if needed to return to your dashboard

Success looks like

You land on your ModelBoard dashboard without any activation banners or prompts asking you to confirm your email.

If you do not see the email after a few minutes, check your spam or promotions folders, then use the option in the signup or sign-in screen to resend the confirmation email.

Complete basic profile

Add enough information so potential collaborators can quickly understand who you are and what you do.

What to do

  • Open your dashboard and look for a Profile or Settings area

  • Add your name and basic location information

  • Write a short bio that describes your role and focus

  • Upload a clear profile photo or logo that represents you or your organization

  • Add key links such as your website or primary social profiles

Success looks like

Your profile shows a photo, filled-in bio, and links, and any profile completeness indicators move closer to 100 percent.

If you are unsure what to write in your bio, start with a one or two sentence summary of your experience and the types of collaborations you are open to, and refine it later.

Start verification and compliance

Begin the verification steps required for your account type to unlock more features and build trust with collaborators.

What to do

  • From your dashboard, open the Compliance or Verification section

  • Review which checks apply to your chosen account type

  • Upload the primary documents requested, such as ID, business registration, or studio or agency paperwork

  • Confirm that each upload is clear, readable, and correctly categorized

  • Submit any required forms and wait for the status to update

Success looks like

You see a clear verification status such as in review or approved, with a list of any remaining items if something is still pending.

Verification reviews can take time depending on your account type and region. If your status stays pending longer than expected, double-check that your documents are valid, not expired, and match the details in your profile before contacting support.

Build your first portfolio section

Create a small, focused portfolio section so collaborators can quickly evaluate fit.

What to do

  • Navigate to the Portfolio area of your dashboard

  • Create a new portfolio section, folder, board, or similar grouping

  • Upload a curated selection of your best work, not your entire archive

  • Add brief titles or descriptions where helpful to explain context

  • Arrange items in an order that highlights your strengths

Success looks like

Your dashboard shows at least one portfolio section with visible thumbnails and basic details that someone new could browse in a minute or two.

If you are just starting, focus on one clear theme or specialty for your first portfolio section. You can always add more sections later as your work or collaborations grow.

Explore Collaborations and Network

Learn where to find opportunities and connections so you know where real work will show up.

What to do

  • Open the area of your dashboard labeled Collaborations or similar

  • Browse any example projects, active opportunities, or requests

  • Explore the Network or connections area to see how profiles relate to each other

  • Try basic filters or search terms that match your interests or region

  • Note where messages, applications, or invitations will appear in your interface

Success looks like

You know where new collaboration opportunities, requests, and messages will appear and feel confident returning to those areas during daily use.

If you do not see many opportunities yet, complete more of your profile and portfolio first, then return to the Collaborations and Network areas. A more complete profile often increases visibility and response rates.
